
The film category nominees for the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards, to be held on May 1st, have been announced.
Among over 150 works, the nominees for Best Picture are "The Spy Gone North," "Miss Baek," "Burning," "Sado," and "Dark Figure of Crime" were selected as the final candidates. Works that conveyed a strong message along with their genre characteristics drew attention. 
The Best Actor/Actress category, which sees fierce competition every year from the nomination selection stage, appears to be heading for another intense battle this year.
As a result, Ryu Seung-ryong for "Extreme Job," Yoo Ah-in for "Burning," Lee Sung-min for "The Spy Gone North," Jung Woo-sung for "Innocent Witness," and Ju Ji-hoon for "Dark Figure of Crime" were selected as final nominees.
In the Actress category, Ko Asung for "A Resistance," Kim Hyang-gi for "Innocent Witness,"
Kim Hye-soo for "Default," Kim Hee-ae for "herstory," and Han Ji-min for "Miss Baek" were the final selections. The film category eligible works are Korean feature films that premiered in South Korea between April 1, 2018, and April 4, 2019. The Baeksang Arts Awards, the nation's only comprehensive arts awards ceremony honoring both TV and film categories, will be held on May 1st at 9 PM in COEX D Hall.
