Group BTS has received their first million certification for a single album released in Japan.

According to the 'Gold Disc Certified Works' announced by the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 9th,

BTS's 10th Japanese single 'Lights/Boy With Luv', released last month, shipped over 1 million copies and officially obtained 'Million' certification.

With this, BTS has become the first Korean artist and the first overseas male artist to receive 'Million' certification for an album or single in Japan.

This is not the first time BTS has received certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.

Their 7th Japanese single 'Blood Sweat & Tears' received 'Platinum' certification,

and their Japanese full album 'FACE YOURSELF' and 9th single 'FAKE LOVE / Airplane pt.2' have also received 'Double Platinum' certification.

Previously, singer BoA received 'Million' certification for albums in 2002, 2003, and 2005, and the group Girls' Generation in 2011,

though not for singles.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan awards Gold (100,000+ copies), Platinum (250,000+ copies), Double Platinum (500,000+ copies),

Triple Platinum (750,000+ copies), and Million (1,000,000+ copies) certifications monthly based on cumulative album shipments.

Currently, BTS is known to be on a break after their concert held at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa in Japan on July 14th.
