The judging was based on the results from January to December 2019, with judges including Park Seung-gyu, Editor-in-Chief of THE FACT, producer Park Geun-tae, producer Cho Young-soo, and lyricist Kim Ina.

The winners for the Grand Prize, Listener's Choice, Artist of the Year, and Next Leader categories were determined by combining 40% of digital single and album scores with 60% of judge scores. The Special Award was determined by 100% judge scores. The Popularity Award and Fan & Star Choice Awards (Singer, Individual, Special Award) were based on 100% voting scores. The Fan & Star Most Voted Award (Singer, Individual) was based on the most votes from real-time rankings from May 2019 to February 2020. Digital single and album scores were derived from Gaon Chart data.

Award acceptance videos from the artists will be sequentially uploaded on the official website (http://www.tfmusicawards.com/winner_2nd_tf.html).

The "2019 TMA" was originally scheduled to be held at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 29th of last month, but it was temporarily postponed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of the audience and artists.

In response, the organizing committee plans to hold a new awards ceremony in the second half of this year, based on scores accumulated from January 2020 onwards.
