    Reg. Date 2020.06.12 11:19 Views 1394

The musical "SOMETHING ROTTEN," which garnered attention last year as an original Korean production, will have its licensed premiere on August 7th at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater.

The musical "SOMETHING ROTTEN," which begins with the imagination of "When did the first musical in human history come into being?" and "Wouldn't it be interesting if Shakespearean London were like Broadway in the 1930s, the golden age of musicals?" depicts the desperate struggle of the "Bottom" brothers who set out to create the first musical in human history during the romantic Renaissance era, facing off against the greatest playwright of the time, "Shakespeare."

The musical "SOMETHING ROTTEN," which parodies lines, scenes, and numbers from performances like "Les Misérables," "Rent," "A Chorus Line," "Wicked," and "Avenue Q," and reinterprets Shakespeare's novels and words, is expected to capture the audience's hearts with its bizarre yet unique comedy.

Following its Korean run in 2019, the musical "SOMETHING ROTTEN" has confirmed its first licensed production in Korea in the summer of 2020, with the involvement of top creative staff raising expectations even further.

First, Kang Pil-seok, Lee Ji-hoon, and Seo Eunkwang (BTOB) have been cast as "Nick Bottom," who leads the play. "Nick Bottom" is a character who dreams of success and advancement with a sense of responsibility as the head of the household who must support his family. He is active as a passionate playwright and leader of a theater troupe in the play. He is a character who keeps an eye on Shakespeare, the greatest bard and popular star writer of the time, and seeks a masterpiece to stand against him.

Lisa and Jay Min will play "Bea," Nick Bottom's wife.

Next, Im Gyu-hyung, Noh Yoon, and Yeowon (PENTAGON) have been cast as "Nigel Bottom," Nick Bottom's younger brother and a passionate playwright.

Choi Soo-jin and Lee Bom-sori have been chosen for the role of "Portia," the daughter of the Puritan Jeremiah.

Park Gun-hyung and Seo Gyeong-su will appear as "Shakespeare," the greatest star writer of the Renaissance era.

Kim Bo-kyul and Michael K. Lee will co-star as "Nostradamus," the nephew of the real Nostradamus, who is the greatest prophet.

Following that, Lee Han-mil will play Jeremiah, Kim Tae-han will play Shylock/Lord Clapham, and Yuk Hyung-wook will play Minstrel, completing a richer performance.
