Shownu, who will be the first member of MONSTA X to enlist in the military, will serve as a social worker (a type of alternative military service) after undergoing three weeks of basic military training. His agency explained that he received a determination for alternative military service in his draft physical because he underwent surgery for retinal detachment last year.

Shownu posted on the official fan cafe on the 10th, saying, "It feels like yesterday that I debuted, but before I knew it, the time has come to enlist in the military," and expressed his gratitude for being able to feel and experience many things thanks to the fans.
