The opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. today at the outdoor theater of the festival's dedicated venue, "Film Hall D" in Haeundae, hosted by actor Song Joong-ki and actress Park So-dam.

The red carpet event for the opening ceremony, which was omitted last year due to the spread of COVID-19, will also be held, and the closing ceremony is also scheduled to be held with an audience.

This year's festival will screen 223 films from approximately 70 countries and regions, including the opening film "Heaven: To the Land of Happiness" (original title) by Korean director Im Sang-soo, across 6 theaters and 29 screens.

The festival will be held in accordance with COVID-19 quarantine rules, with seating capacity reduced to 50% of the total.

Last year, each film was screened only once, but this year, as in previous years, they are scheduled to be screened 2-3 times.

In the competition section "New Currents," 11 nominated films will compete.

This year, acclaimed Indian director Deepa Mehta will serve as the jury president.

Following a press conference on the morning of the 15th, the festival will conclude after the screening of the closing film "Anita" (directed by Liang Lok-man) in the afternoon.
