The 6th Korea Musical Awards, the largest musical awards ceremony in Korea representing the Korean musical scene, will be held on January 10 (Mon) at the Blue Square Shinhan Card Hall.
Organized by the Korea Musical Association (Chairman Lee Jong-gyu) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council, the 6th Korea Musical Awards is the largest musical awards ceremony in Korea, representing Korean musicals, and is a festival created together by musical professionals and audiences who love musicals. It also marks the start of the next 50 years by looking back critically at the past 50 years of Korean musicals since their premiere with the first Korean original musical "Salchagieopsye" in 1966.
The Korea Musical Awards are held every January to summarize the year of the Korean musical market and to mark the beginning of a new year. It is expected to inject vitality into the Korean musical market, which has been somewhat stagnant due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, and to convey a message of hope and encouragement to musical artists who are working hard in the artistic field.
Chairman Lee Jong-gyu of the Korea Musical Association stated, "The musical industry has cooperated in overcoming the national crisis by being the most exemplary in epidemic prevention during the COVID-19 pandemic, enduring the hardships. Through this Korea Musical Awards, we hope for the revival of the contracted industry and the opening of an era where actors and audiences can be happier."
