The musical stage featuring 2PM's JUN. K, NU'EST's Baekho, and Golden Child's Hong Joochan will soon be viewable.

Shinswave announced on the 27th that they have cast 2PM's JUN. K, NU'EST's Baekho, and Golden Child's Hong Joochan for the original musical "Equal."

The musical "Equal" is based on the play of the same name by Japanese writer and director Kenichi Suemitsu, which premiered last year. Shinswave is creating a new original musical, with composer Woody Pak, writer Kim Su-bin, and director Shim Seol-in participating.


The work is set in 17th-century Europe, a time of rampant witch hunts and heresy accusations. It depicts the desperate desires and twisted fates of two characters, Nicola and Theo, while offering a message that reflects on today's world, confused by the COVID-19 pandemic and conspiracy theories.

JUN. K and Baekho have been triple-cast as Theo, a character who struggles alone to save Nicola, a simple, cheerful country doctor and friend.


JUN. K, the main vocalist of 2PM, known for his singer-songwriter abilities and past roles in musicals such as "The Three Musketeers" and "Jack the Ripper," and Baekho, who has been actively performing in musicals this year as Haram in "The Law of the Sun" and Matthew in "Alter Boys," are expected to showcase different interpretations of the character Theo.

Hong Joochan will play the role of Nicola alongside Jeong Jae-hwan, a rising actor with a diverse range in musicals and plays. Attention is focused on how Hong Joochan, who has shown unique charm in musicals such as "Sonata of Light" and "Alter Boys" in addition to his activities as the main vocalist of Golden Child, will portray the delicate character of Nicola.


The musical "Equal," featuring three representative K-POP stars and two musical actors, will be presented both online and offline. The preview performances (3 shows, online and offline) will begin on the 31st of this month, followed by offline event performances (3 shows) from July 7th to 9th. The performances will take place on the performance platform Metatheater and at Uniplex Hall 1 in Dongsung-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
