South Korea's Disease Control and Prevention Agency Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong stated at the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee's state audit on the 7th that the transition to "With Corona," which balances COVID-19 infection control with economic and social activities, could begin in the second week of November.

It is projected that the foundation for gradually restoring daily life will be laid in the second week of November, two weeks after 70% of the population completes vaccination at the beginning of the last week of this month, allowing for immunity to form.

Prior to this, the government had announced its intention to shift to "gradual daily recovery" once 70% of the population (90% of the elderly, 80% of adults) completed vaccination, and to begin the system transition in November by lowering the level of the government's infection prevention measure, "social distancing."

With the timing of the transition to With Corona becoming more concrete, the government is expected to accelerate preparations such as securing hospital beds, introducing a "vaccine pass" for those who have completed vaccination, and purchasing oral treatments.

The quarantine authorities have indicated that if the "fourth wave" of the COVID-19 outbreak becomes more severe than at present, the number of new daily infections could increase to around 5,000 by the end of this month. However, the government maintains the position that gradual daily recovery cannot be postponed any further.

Health and Welfare Minister Kwon Deok-cheol stated at the state audit on the 6th, "We are preparing measures such as securing beds for critically ill patients and home treatment, anticipating that the number of new daily infections could increase to the 10,000 range."
