South Korean airline major Asiana Airlines announced on the 14th that it will resume operations on the Incheon-Nagoya (Chubu) international route starting April 1st. The flights will operate once a week. Operations had been suspended since April 29th of last year due to the impact of the novel coronavirus.

The Incheon-Nagoya route departs from Incheon Airport at 8:30 AM and arrives at Chubu Airport at 10:25 AM. It departs from Chubu Airport one hour later at 11:25 AM and returns to Incheon Airport at 1:30 PM.

Asiana Airlines explained, "This is in response to Japan's move to ease the upper limit on the number of inbound travelers and the number of days required for quarantine after entry."

The number of flights on major Japan routes will also be increased. Starting March 27th, the Incheon-Tokyo (Narita) route will be increased from the current six round trips per week to daily flights. The Incheon-Osaka (Kansai) route will increase from three round trips per week to five round trips per week, and the Incheon-Fukuoka route will increase from one round trip per week to two round trips per week.

An official from the airline stated, "We have expanded our Japan routes with an eye toward the post-COVID era," and added that they will consider additional increases in flights while closely monitoring movements regarding visa exemption measures and quarantine periods between Korea and Japan.

This month, Japan raised the daily limit on inbound travelers to 5,000 people, and from the 14th, it will be expanded to 7,000 people. According to Asiana Airlines, for those who have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and departed from South Korea, the quarantine period upon arrival in Japan has been effectively shortened to three days.
