Kakao Mobility, a subsidiary of South Korean IT service giant Kakao, announced on the 4th that it has released "k.ride," a taxi app for foreigners that can be used without restrictions on country, culture, or language.

"k.ride" is currently available for download from app stores in 14 countries, including South Korea, the U.S., Japan, Singapore, and China, and can be used within South Korea.

Users can sign up without a Kakao account by entering their phone number and verifying their identity via a Google account, Apple ID, or email. Automatic payment using credit cards issued overseas is also supported.

The app supports English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and automatically translates into over 100 languages—including English, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Arabic—when searching for destinations or chatting with drivers.

The company plans to provide a variety of integrated services for travelers, including expanding the number of service-supported countries to approximately 30 within the year.

Ryu Gung-seon, CEO of the company, stated, "Through k.ride, we want to provide a service that people around the world can use easily and conveniently, crossing borders."
